Feature | Victorinox Celebrates 130 Years of Making the Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Watch to Last

I.N.O.X.

The very distinctive features of the Swiss Army knife being its authenticity, robustness, and reliability in any condition have served as the inspiration for the design of Victorinox during the celebration of the 130th anniversary.

I.N.O.X.
There are not many watches made to withstand remarkable amounts of stress, pass a battery strength test and is a design that is reinforced with a removable bumper protector composed of nylon and silicone… That watch is I.N.O.X.

The I.N.O.X, which is French for Stainless Steel, is tantamount to material strength, durability and resistance to corrosion. With a guarantee of quality and standard testing, the I.N.O.X has undergone a rigorous battery of tests to reveal its outstanding resistance. In addition to certifying the I.N.O.X, 30 tests were designed solely to prove that the watch is “made to last“.

I.N.O.X can, for example, withstand a 10-meter drop onto a concrete surface, have a 64-ton tank drive over it, and resists two hours in a washing machine as well as a sandstorm. It can resist variations in temperature from - 51° C to +71 ° C and 12G forces of acceleration and deceleration. I.N.O.X has also been subjected to attack by corrosive products such as gasoline, solvents, oils, cleaning products and insecticides.

The name, I.N.O.X pays tribute to an early 20th century invention that did much with regard to the growth and triumph of the Stainless Steel Swiss Army Knife. For Victorinox in particular, the creation of this watch symbolizes the link between knifemaking and watchmaking. Victorinox was founded in 1884 and in 1989, its first watch was manufactured. The respect for Swiss know-how and its peerless standards of quality, is the solitary philosophy that relates these key dates and crafts.

To create a protective envelope of unsurpassed strength, the I.N.O.X was made of solid steel with a case stamped and machined in metal. It is intended to endure bizarre vibration, shock and temperature changes, it has been toughened well beyond the standards of a traditional timepiece, and is sure to maintain a perfect seal underwater to a depth of 200 meters.

I.N.O.X is the embodiment of strength. The watch axis and the attachment of the hands are durable like no other. The horns are protected against warping and solidified by a crossbar. The crown, too, is protected, as is the crystal by the slightly elevated bezel. And it comes with an original “bumper”—a removable protector composed of silicone and nylon that matches perfectly with the crown, the case and the back, without disturbing legibility. As nifty and as practical as the I.N.O.X is, the protector gives its matchless appearance.

Ultimately, the resourcefulness of the I.N.O.X watch makes it long lasting with an outstandingly robust personality. It relics a harmoniously designed timepiece, that is dense and genuine. The steel has been cleverly fashioned and refined to catch the light.

The 2014 collection is available with dial and strap in black, khaki green or navy blue. All versions are equipped with a Swiss made Ronda quartz movement. The rightful heir of the original Swiss Army knife, I.N.O.X is a perfect “companion for life.”
